What personal data do we collect?

Digital Newsgroup collects data from you through the website and when you use our services. A comprehensive list of when and what data Digital Newsgroup collects from you can be found below.

Newsletter

When you visit our website, you have the option to subscribe to our newsletter. By giving your consent, we can keep you informed of current developments regarding Digital Newsgroup and other information you might find interesting. To receive our newsletter, we store the following information about you:

  • If you do not have an account with us, your name and email address

We store your data for sending our newsletter, unless you indicate that you no longer wish to receive our newsletter. To unsubscribe from our newsletter, you can send an email to contact@digitalnewsgroup.com by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter.

If you create an account on our website, we will collect data from you to create your account, to sign up for subscriptions, and to make payments.

The right to data portability

Submitting a request and the deadline

If you have a request regarding one of the above rights, you can send an email to contact@digitalnewsgroup.com. We will generally fulfill your request within four weeks and send a confirmation once we have received and completed it.

 

However, the timeframe for responding to requests can be extended by two months for reasons related to specific privacy rights or the complexity of the request. If we extend this timeframe, we will of course inform you in a timely manner. 

Do we share your data with third parties?

We believe we should not share your data with third parties unless it is unavoidable. Even then, we believe it is important to share as little data as possible with these third parties. For this reason, we only share your data with third parties when this is permitted by current legislation and when we deem it necessary. Your data may be shared with third parties because:

  • We hired them to process certain data.;
  • That is necessary to execute the agreement between you and Digital Newsgroup;
  • You have given permission here;
  • We have a legitimate interest in sharing this data.;
  • We are legally obligated to share this data.

Our payment providers including Stripe
Our CRM and communication tools like Mailgun

The third parties with whom we share your data may be located outside the European Economic Area (EEA). We take appropriate measures for transfers to countries outside the EEA.

We use the following measures for international transfers:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with all processors outside the EEA
  • Additional technical safeguards such as end-to-end encryption
  • Data storage within the EU where possible

What to do if you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data?

If you have any comments or remarks regarding the processing of your personal data, you may contact us. Furthermore, should you be dissatisfied with how we handle your comment, you may file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority. This is the independent administrative body in the Netherlands appointed by law as the supervisor for the processing of personal data.

Do you suspect a data breach? Contact us immediately via contact@digitalnewsgroup.com. We have a data breach protocol and are legally obligated to report within 72 hours.

How long is your data stored?

Of all the data we store, there naturally comes a time to let it go. We consider this a very important part of your privacy. To ensure that we can serve you in the best possible way, that we can meet our legal obligations, while still safeguarding your privacy as well as possible, we have various retention periods.

  • We delete accounts that have not been used for 7 years. The information you provided when creating that account will also be deleted.
  • We also keep data about your payments as a customer for 7 years, as the Tax Administration requires us to do so. After these 7 years, this data will be anonymized and only used for internal statistics and reports.
  • We will only keep your contact details entered in the contact form for as long as necessary for contact and to answer your request or question, for a maximum of 1 year after we last had contact with you.
  • We do not retain other data for longer than necessary, as we value your privacy and want to ensure it is protected as effectively as possible. 
  • Newsletter: withdrawal of consent


After these periods, your data will be deleted or anonymized. We will only use anonymized data for internal statistics.

How is my personal data protected?

Security is essential when storing personal data. Therefore, we ensure that your data always receives the best possible protection through appropriate technical and organizational measures. For example, we do this by using encryption (both during transmission and storage), strict access controls, two-factor authentication where possible, and regular security checks.
